The useful comparison is your commitment, not just the cheapest equivalent monthly number. If you are still deciding whether you enjoy a product, an annual purchase means paying for a long period before you have much evidence. A shorter term can be a sensible experiment even when its monthly equivalent is higher.
AI chat: unlimited text versus token and Dreamcoin allowances
Candy AI offers unlimited text chat according to its paid-user guide and 100 tokens per month on Premium. On an annual subscription, the token allocation still arrives monthly; it is not an entire year’s allowance deposited at once. Candy AI’s paid-user guide.
OurDream AI offers 1,000 Dreamcoins per month, with 2,000 initially on its annual plan because of a one-time bonus. Its coin guide lists ordinary subscriber chat at zero coins, but Genius and Lively Genius responses at one coin each. Treat the model you select as part of your budget. A tenfold difference in the displayed currency balance does not mean ten times as much usage. Each platform sets its own charge per action. The appropriate unit is the activity you want to complete: a voice conversation, a particular image request, or a video of a chosen length.
Customization, image generation and voice: compare your workflow
Candy AI uses tokens for custom characters, image generation, voice messages, calls and video generation from suitable images. The help page does not establish one universal price for all these actions. OurDream AI also describes Dreamcoins being used for image and video generation, voice calls and audio messages. OurDream’s March 2026 guide gives example rates of five coins for an in-chat image and 50 per minute for voice calls. Those examples help explain its currency, but are not a quote for every model. Video options have also changed over time, so this comparison does not extrapolate one documented video rate across the current menu. Check the displayed cost of the option you actually choose.
A worked example for OurDream’s documented rates
At the example rates above, 20 in-chat images cost 100 coins and five minutes of calls cost 250. Together that is 350 coins, or 35% of a 1,000-coin monthly allowance, before videos or paid chat models. This is arithmetic using the published guide, not an observed bill or a guarantee about a different model. Candy AI’s help page does not supply matching rates for every action, so we cannot give an equally supported total for Candy AI from that source.
Add the basket’s charges, subtract the included allowance, and then check the price of the smallest top-up that covers any shortfall. Do this separately for each platform. Keep unsuccessful attempts in your spending log: the price of a satisfying result can differ from the price of a generation request.
Roleplay and character consistency need a different comparison
Feature lists cannot prove that a character will feel consistent. A useful personal check is to give each product the same short, non-sensitive fictional setup, ask it to follow two concrete details, and revisit those details later. Record the selected model and any edits you make. Otherwise a difference in setup can look like a difference in product quality.
For example, create a fictional bookstore owner preparing for a reading event. Establish the date and a book they dislike. Later, ask about the event and the book. Notice whether the response uses your facts, invents replacements, or needs a correction. This is a suggested evaluation method; we have not performed it as a benchmark for this article.
For longer roleplay sessions, keep a short checklist: does the model follow the agreed setting, keep the same character traits, and distinguish an instruction from dialogue? Start a second session to see which details carry over. Record corrections rather than relying on whether the first responses feel engaging. This checks the experience you need without turning marketing claims about memory into a factual guarantee.
Character customization deserves its own check. Before paying to regenerate a character, inspect the character creator’s controls and the price of edits. If you prefer anime artwork, assess that style separately from realistic images. Repeat the same harmless scene when comparing output quality; changing the prompt, style and model at once makes the result harder to interpret.

Free tier and cancellation: checks before paying
Candy AI’s free tier documentation describes a small allowance: 5 messages across characters, one custom character and one image. It is enough to inspect the basic interface, not enough to establish long-term conversational consistency. Use that access to inspect the interface before you start chatting. OurDream’s help centre says image and video generation require a subscription, and that this media becomes blurred when subscription access ends. Some promotional pages describe different introductory access, so we are not treating a free-media offer as guaranteed. Confirm the permissions shown in your own account. For Candy AI, the documented cancellation route is My Profile, then Settings, then Unsubscribe and confirmation. OurDream directs subscribers to their profile’s cancellation control and says access continues until the paid period ends; cancellation does not automatically produce a refund. What happens to unused Dreamcoins after cancellation?
OurDream AI’s cancellation guide says unused coins can be spent during the remaining billing period. It also says previous unused coins are not restored when you reactivate through a new subscription. If you expect to leave and return later, do not treat a large balance as permanent stored value. Check the remaining access period before buying additional coins. This condition can matter more than a promotional allowance for an occasional user.

When to choose OurDream AI
Consider OurDream AI if the particular models and creative options you want fit its coin budget. Price those options explicitly, especially when selecting a model with a per-response charge. A larger credit balance is useful only in relation to the actions it buys.
